A word from our President:Having just returned from a sales trip to Chicago, where I managed to spend some time with several Chicago Skålleagues, London feels much warmer than Midwest USA I can assure you! So another year almost over and we look forward to a potentially busy 2012. As with the Royal Wedding back in April, the eyes of the world will be on the UK as we look forward to the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and of course the London Olympics. Both events give us in the Travel Industry many exciting challenges. Skål International London will be hosting a special Olympic event in June along with many other fantastic networking opportunities, keep an eye on the Skål London website for updates. In fact the ‘Skål International London’ website is currently going through a bit of a make over so you should be enjoying a new fresher version of our website soon. November and December have been as busy as usual with us hosting the Skål International stand at WTM and of course the lunch at the Crowne Plaza. It was great to see new members join us at our wine reception on the stand on the Monday evening as well as the traditional annual WTM lunch. New faces networking, exchanging business cards and ideas, one of the many benefits of your Skål membership. Our Christmas lunch at the Goring Hotel was delightful and our thanks to our guest speaker, former Home Secretary Charles Clarke. Also our thanks to our wonderful official Skål choir from the Sir John Cass Foundation Primary School and their director Pat Bilbrough; they sang beautifully and really got us in the festive spirit. Finally my thanks to everyone on the Skål International London board for their help over the past 12 months. In particular my thanks to our Treasurer Peter Adamou who after 8 years as Treasurer will be stepping down (anyone interested in taking over please give me a call!). Peter has been superb in his role as treasurer and will be sorely missed. It just leaves me to wish you all very Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
