Mats Wivesson, President Skal International London

A word from our President:

Another “Veterans Luncheon” and another great event. I’m surprised, every year, that they can produce such a nice menu to us at a such a bargain price. I enjoyed the lunch as I always have and consider this luncheon one of the highlight of the year.

Unfortunately we were forced to cancel the lunch at the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese due to lack of bookings. Very strange as the “Cheshire Cheese” has always been one of our most popular functions.

I have spent a week on Ireland were I escorted a group of 100 people from Volvo Europe ( 8 different nationalities ) enjoying the start of the Volvo Ocean Race. I got some very useful advice and help from Past International President Mary Bennett from Galway where all the boats were docked.

Back in London, we are now preparing for the Summer/July function which include the Duck Tour, lunch and London Eye for only £33:00 per person. We hope members from other clubs will take the opportunity and join us

It is with very deep sadness that I have to advise you that Mrs Lynn Bogaert, widow of Ray, our former Membre d'honeur, passed away. Some time during the night of june 16/17, Lynn suffered a massive stroke and when her hairdresser arrived on the morning of 17th and was unable to gain entry to the house she summoned a neighbour and together they found Lynn in bed unconscious and called an ambulance. Despite doctors efforts she never regained consciousness and passed away in the early hours of this morning. Lynn was a lovely lady and will be sadly missed by all who were priviledged to have known her.

Lynn's funeral will take place on Wednesday July 1st, at 14.30 at Slough Crematorium (SL2 5AX)
